
Sex: Males have a black mask and are slightly bigger than females. Male cardinals are also much more brightly colored than the females.
Range: Northern Cardinals can be found in the eastern USA and Mexico. They also live in the southern tip of Ontario and Quebec.
Nesting and eggs: female cardinals make a cup nest in a well- concealed spot in a low tree or shrub. These nests are usually made of thin twigs, bark strips, and grasses. Their eggs have a length of about 1 inch and a breadth of 0.8 inches. These eggs are gray or greenish-white and have brown, gray, and lavender markings.
Food: seeds, fruits, berries, buds, and insects.
Population: 100 million individuals.
Fun Fact: Northern Cardinals are the state birds of 7 of the U. S’s states.
